Tech Squares Weekend Application Policy

The 2011 goal (same as 2009 and 2010 goals) is to admit up to 120 paying dancers with preference given to Tech Squares members who apply by the deadline.

From all the on-time applications, preference will be given to (in order):

  1. Special guests of Clark Baker.

  2. Tech Squares members who are flying to the weekend (and need to reserve a ticket in advance).

  3. Graduates of one of the last two Tech Squares classes (previous fall and spring).

  4. Tech Squares members who are MIT undergraduates.

  5. All other members of Tech Squares (includes officer, voting and non-voting members, undergrads from other colleges).

  6. Others who have attended within the last two years.

  7. Others. (The weekend is by invitation and people should talk to CMB if they want to come and are not a member of Tech Squares.)
You may bring family member(s) and significant other(s) who share a room with you.

This policy is effective this year and may change next year.

If a category is oversubscribed, then everyone in that category will be entered in a lottery. Anyone who does not get in through the lottery will be placed on a numbered waiting list.

Late applications will be processed in the order they are received and will be added to the end of the waiting if there is one.

In 2010 we had 99.3 paying dancers. In 2009 we had 110 paying dancers. In 2008 we had 116 paying dancers. This year, I expect to admit everyone in categories 1-5 and still be under the 120 person limit. If a lottery is needed, it would most likely apply to those in either category 6 or 7.
