Nice Belgian restaurant. Interesting items on the menu, including
cheval tartar! They served an incredible three layer Belgian
chocolate mousse and also have a respectable selection of Belgian
beers. Approximately $30CAN [$23US] for the meal, one beer, and desert, not
including the tip - but worth it. The food was great, the beer was fantastic

The owner is reputed to be Robert Charlebois, the pop singer and composer
of various anthemic songs I remember from my youth. Their beers
are 'Blanche de Chambly', 'La Maudite' (the
latter translating, roughly, as 'the infernal'), 'La
Fin du Monde' (The End of the World), and 'Raftsman'. They don't give tours, and you have
to pay for their beer posters.!
Las Brasseurs G.M.T (Microbrewery)
Brasserie McAuslan - 4850 St. Amboise, Bureau 100, Montreal, Quebec H4C 3N8; (514)939-3060
Brewpub Microbrewery with "the most exciting new ales in
Canada". No public tours. "St. Ambroise was always one of my
favourites in the early days. It's brewed by the MacAuslan brewery.
It is now joined by St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout, Griffon Extra
Pale Ale and Griffon Brown Ale. These are, respectively, fine
examples of amber ale, oatmeal stout, lightly flavored pale ale
and American brown ale. The Griffon pale is not hoppy enough
for my tastes and may well have been made with some corn."
Metro: Take subway to St. Henri stop. Go West on St. Jacques
St. South on St. Marguerite St, through a short tunnel. Right
onto St. Ambroise St., proceed for three blocks. A Pugsley-inspired
Ringwood brewer.
They are about 50/50 Bottle/Keg. 10% of the product goes to
the US. They recently made a beer (Mont Tremblant) that is only
available in Northern Quebec, for the ski lodges. They also are marketing (made elsewhere) McAuslan Beer-Mustard, made with 15% St. Ambroise Ale.

Quebec -- CharlevoixI found Rochefort in a Belgian restaurant called (I think) Aux Douceurs Belges in the Charlevoix region east of Quebec City. (Down the road from the Manoir Richelieu (very famous hotel in Charlevoix region).
The restaurant is listed in my Quebec guidebook; unfortunately, I'm in the process of moving from New York to London, UK and my stuff is at this moment being shipped. Please remind me in about 2 weeks and I'll find the exact name and address of restaurant, as well as the city in which it is located. My e-mail address is 742-7255@MCIMail.com.

A very nice farm stand with modern cider making equipment. Their cellar holds about 10 thousand bottles. They said they typically sell their cider within the year. They didn't really recommend aging the product although they have tasted vintage ciders at other places they've visited. It was a real nice family run operation. Worth the few minutes detour off the main highway (just follow the Blue and white signs for Cidrerie St-Nicolas)
